At the Southern Boone Area YMCA Child Development Center, we believe every child deserves a place where they feel safe, supported, encouraged, and excited to learn.
Our state-licensed preschool program provides a nurturing, engaging environment where children ages 3–5 can explore their interests, build friendships, develop independence, and prepare for their next educational adventure.
Through hands-on learning, creative exploration, and meaningful play, we help children build the skills and confidence they need to thrive—one day at a time.

Our Curriculum
Learning Through Play & Discovery
We use the Creative Curriculum to provide engaging learning experiences that support the whole child. Every day brings opportunities to explore, ask questions, solve problems, and discover something new.
Build foundational skills in early literacy, math, language, problem-solving, and classroom routines.
Encourage curiosity through hands-on activities, creative challenges, experiments, and discovery.
Practice friendship, cooperation, communication, confidence, and healthy ways to express feelings.
Enjoy art, imaginative play, music, movement, yoga, and activities that help children express themselves.

Learning Beyond The Classroom
Learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door! We believe children benefit from opportunities to explore their community, stay active, and experience new things.
Weekly Fun Fridays
Each week, children enjoy special outings to Ashland City Park or visits to the Southern Boone Area YMCA for recreation, movement, outdoor exploration, and fun activities with friends.
Monthly Field Trips
Once a month, children explore a new destination through a planned field trip, discovering new places, trying new experiences, and making lasting memories.
Community Connections & Guest Speakers
Through local partnerships, special visitors, and guest speakers, children have opportunities to learn from others and build connections with the community around them.
